Joined: Feb 9 2009

Just so that we can cut down on speculation, let's use this thread for all discussions about the PC version.

First and foremost, The PC version of Red Faction Guerrilla will be shipping this Summer, on September 15th for North America and September 18th for International. Stay tuned to this thread for updates on the PC version between now and the release date as I’ll be continuously adding to this thread.

The PC version will have the following:

- Adjustable resolutions / video settings
- Fully customizable controls
- Mouse control in menus
- Support for DirectX9 and DirectX10

Once I have more official information to share, I'll post it up here.

General F.A.Q.

Q1: What is the release date for the PC version?
A1: North America: September 15th International: September 18th

Q2: What are the specs to run RFG PC?
A2: See this post: http://community.redfaction.com/content/rfg-pc-release-date-specs

Q3: Will there be a demo for PC?
A3: Unfortunately, not at this time.

Q4: Will there be official mod tools or a level editor shipping with the game?
A4: Unfortunately, no.

Q5: Will RFG PC use P2P or dedicated servers for MP?
A5: RFG is P2P. P2P meaning "peer-to-peer". It's peer-to-peer using a client-server model. It's peer-to-peer because a player is the server. There will not be dedicated servers.

Q6: Will RFG PC recieve DLC?
A6: Yes. Please see the following post for details: http://community.redfaction.com/forums/topic/2772?page=72#comment-56479

Q7: Will Volition support any player-created mods?
A7: We will not officially support any player-made modifications, but we will allow individuals to use our forum to congregate and develop them.

Q8: Is there LAN support for RFG PC?
A8: Yes, up to 16 players.

Q9: What Operating Systems will RF:G support?
A9: Red Faction: Guerrilla will support the following Operating Systems; XP 32bit, Vista 32/64bit. Windows 7 'may not' be listed as a supported OS (on the box) but know, V-Razor has made it a point to include Windows 7 on several of QAs testing systems. Windows 7 + RF:G works perfectly and in QAs opinion is supported.

Q10: What kind of AA options are available for the PC version?
A10: RFG will have multiple AA levels, ranging from 2x-16x (If your card supports it), and even 8xq and 16xq for Nvidia specific cards which support it.

Q11: Is LAN play possible without being online with GFWL?
A11: Yes, but you need to be signed into an offline profile account.

Q12: Is there a developer console available?
A12: No, there is not.

Q13: Is MP joining through a matchmaking process or a server browser?
A13: Through matchmaking, similar to the console version.

Isn't Reactor Zero with the PC edition? Or are the both companies working on it?

I suppose I should repost this then:

Basically what I've learned from them so far is that Online MP will definitely be included. I've also been told that the PC version will be entirely P2P without a dedicated server and that there won't be official editing or mod tools.
Yes, I was just as disappointed and probably just as mad as you guys are.
To quote the e-mail I recieved "I don't think that THQ has announced a release date yet for the PC version. You can draw your own inferences from that." so I'm pretty sure that it's not the same time.

This would be, usually, a stupid question to be made, but as the PC version is being done by a diferent game studio:

Have the PC version and consoles version the same content or is diferent?

the "fully customizable controls" is good news ... the rest seems kinda ... well ... standard for a port :/ (does anybody know of a ported game that doesn't allow a mouse in the menu or adujustible video settings?) ...

I guess the question is if that news is good enough to upset the partially entrenched stigma shrowding the PC version ...

Im both kinda upset and glad that the one PC thread wasn't kept open ... There was alot of upset people that got a bit out of hand, but there were alot of valid opinions lost as well ...

First and foremost, The PC version of Red Faction Guerrilla will be shipping this Summer, shortly after the 360/PS3 launch on June 2nd.  We are not announcing an official date right now, but once a date has been locked down, you’ll be the first to know.  Stay tuned to this thread for updates on the PC version between now and the release date as I’ll be continuously adding to this thread.

Adjustable resolutions and video settings? customizable controls? able to use the mouse? Lordy, thank god! It's not like any other PC game has any of those things in them! I can see there is a giant step in making sure the PC version is not a half assed port of the console one! Good job!

Yeah but mouse control in the menu is great. I have bought around eight games this year that didn't have that. Seriously how can you make a PC game without mouse controls in the menu?

Well, it's unfortunate that there's a delay, but at least we know for sure now that it is delayed. Since I want the PC version, I'll just have to wait. At least there's a lot of other good games coming out in the next month or so to keep me busy for a while.

"shortly after june 2nd" so what, like june 3rd, 10th, 20th?

Speaking of which, can you port over a demo, or at least think about a demo?
