Just curious... If the RF had take over what kind of government would they have set up? Are they red just in there name or are they really communists?

"Miners, this is Eos, leader of the Red Faction. Our time has come. Workers in mine M4 have started the rebellion and are dying for you as we speak!"

Communism is the logical reply, but they would probably assign the main characters as leaders or something.

Well the capitol city of mars is named after Eos in RF:G so you you would presume that at the very least they Red Faction leader became opoular heroes, possibly even leaders : )

Well at the end of RF 1 then Eos clearly states "I dont know, but i sure as hell aint stayin on mars!"

so i dont think Eos was a leader and as for parker well he turned into the old coot so i dought him

After the events of RF1 - the EDF (as called in by Parker) setup colonies on Mars. I guess they governed it.

heres the thing- communism isnt a system of governance. the red faction didnt have a party, so they wouldnt turn out like any of the party dictatorships of the 20th century (ie china or russia). and even revolutions like cuba, where there wasn't really a party, ended up like that partially, but then at the influence of world politics, foreign invasion, and Soviet support.

so i would assume a council socialism more along the lines of the Paris Commune, Oaxaca in 2006, or the original idea of the Russian Revolution.

Not true, you are refering to classic Leninist thought and a Vanguard Party. That said, the Parties dominance's purpose was to stop Capitalist influence and sabotage into the Socalist State (ie every quote on quote, "Communist Country" oxymoron out there)

And there was defeintely a clear line of support for the Revolution from the already established Communist Party of Cuba.

And you are aware that Council Socialism is the same thing as the Soviets, right?

I seem to rememeber that either Eos' or Orion's letter in the Instruction manual said they called it Red Faction because the planet was red.
