I have Red Faction 2 for the PC (laptop), and I can't get it to start because of some error message saying the graphics card does not meet the minimum system requirements even though my computer already exceeds all the requirements (apparently except graphics according to the stupid message).

I know my graphics card has 3D graphics and I've been able to run Halo, GTA San Andreas, Star Wars Best of PC (Knights of the Old Republic, Jedi Outcast, Republic Commando, Battlefront, Empire at War) just fine.

Toshiba Satellite A205-S5810
Windows Vista Home Premium
1.6 Ghz Intel Dual Core processor
120 GB Hard Drive
3 GB RAM
Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset/Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 with 128-358MB dynamically allocated shared graphics memory.

Red Faction 2 Minimum Requirements
Pentium III 500Mhz
1100 MB Hard Drive Space
128 MB RAM
16MB Video Memory

And RF2 came out in 2004 before computers went hi-tech. It has version 1.01 and I've tried using Windows XP compatibility + Run as Administrator. The graphics driver is up to date, since I couldn't find any updates or downloadable compatible updates.

Red Faction 1 just goes into a black screen after the first cutscene. While my friend could run it on his laptop (also a Toshiba Satellite w/ Vista Premium, a year older than mine, with no special gaming graphics like NVidia or anything except a slightly faster processor 1.7Ghz and only 1GB memory) perfectly fine.

This is really aggravating me.

For Red Faction: Download and use Pure Faction

For Red Faction II: Download and use this patch (I'm assuming you have RF2 retail. If you're using the Steam version, just say so and I'll find the link to the Steam patcher :P)

Hi, I'm Goober. I've been a mapper for Red Faction for the past 9 years. [The Red Faction Wiki]

I think I've used that patch before. Using it again brings up a error message about rf2.exe not found.

It wasn't retail, it was downloaded from Gamestop's direct download since I don't think they even have it in stores anymore.
