With Comic Con just a few days away from opening their doors, Volition had some time to stop by the GameSpot offices up in San Francisco.  Jameson Durall, Lead Level Designer, was present and able to take some time discuss some of the new gameplay elements coming to RFA, including a brand new Nano Forge ability.

While I'm not sure where the mysterious metal MIDI in the background came from, I think it works to show Jameson's attitude when it comes to "...laying out the fun" in RFA.  There's something extra special as well for our fans of Red Faction: Guerrilla, with the video below detailing our newest weapon, the Singularity Gun.  The mine you placed in RFG is a thing of the past...

Along with the above interview, GameSpot has also posted a brand new preview based on their updated impressions after our initial showing on the E3 floor.

"The first enemies we encountered were the creepers, which are spiderlike fast-moving aliens that attack in a pack. The aliens send creepers out as part of the first wave to take out any humans that might get in the way. They have leaping attacks and a ranged spit attack, so even if they aren't very durable, in large numbers, they can be quite annoying. Their role is to neutralize the area so that the disease can continue to spread without having anyone get in the way."

Singularity gun! Awesome. And it looks like we were all wrong, the preview clearly stated that these new enemies are aliens, not mutants. Though it did say that Capek performed tests on these aliens too, so we're only halfway wrong, mutant-aliens!

EDIT: But a new screenshot calls them a result of the Plague, kinda contradicting

Well, all of you were obsessed with the mutant thing.

To me it was always clear that Volition was talking about unknow martians (aliens), and it sounds perfect.
