When you first spot an Alien, what is your first reaction? If you said, "Fire all weapons at them until they explode into a shower of raining gibs," you would be correct.
Take a look at the seven brand new screenshots below for a specific look at the Creeper, along with details on how the new Nano Forge ability "Shockwave" works. The awesome new Magnet Gun also makes an appearance.
I love the new screenshots. It kinda creates a game that I always wanted for a long time, something remeniscent of Aliens by James Cameron. The pictures of the aliens on the surface definitely remind me of the Aliens, and it's all done with more of an action-oriented style than a horror style like that movie. Awesome.
On a sidenote, I watched Aliens again a couple days ago was stunned by how extremely identical the cargo-lifter looks compared to the light-walker in RFG.

Red Faction: Armageddon, Volition loves to mess with people who can't spell. As if Guerrilla didn't cause enough spelling errors already
I notice the use of the word "Plague" with this so called Alien. That about settles what they are in my book.
I read a preview where they said that these things are aliens, Ultor new about them when they settled in Mars and during RF 1 Capek also performed nano-experiments on them as well. The Plague isn't limited to only humans. So don't be too sure just yet.
But I am with you on hoping they are human mutants and not alien mutants. Not that it makes a whole heap of difference, but I like my sci-fi to be believable and that's kinda hard since we know that there is no [living] extraterrestial life on Mars.

Capek wasn't experimenting on just Humans. I played through RF1 just this past week. Hendrix mentions him working on all kinds of animals. No mention of them being Aliens though. I think Volition is pushing the Alien angle to bring in new fans.
I think they are the "real" martians (aliens to us) and I see nothing wrong with it. Later Volition maybe will prove all us wrong because this could be a very interesting part of the game plot.
Screens in the surface!!!, Hell, time can't pass fast enough.
The creatures are on the surface too? Oh crap!

Somethings just sound better together like 'magnetgun'.
