San Diego Comic Con may have closed the doors for another year, but there's still plenty of information being processed after a rest-filled weekend for all the travelers.  Today, Joystiq brings an interview with Senior Associate Producer, Dan Sutton and Writer, Drew Holmes.

To start with, two rumors are taken care of straight away:

- Will there be a sledgehammer? Yes.
- Will the Ostrich Hammer be returning? "It's up to NeoGAF," joked Holmes. "Someone will photoshop something, and then we'll be stuck."

Continuing the interview, there's a few questions about the new direction of Armageddon compared to Guerrilla.  Drew Holmes comments particularly about the inclusion of a new force to fight against.

"Our feeling was that you can only shoot guys for so long. You want something new to do. So we took what they did in Red Faction 1, and said, 'We want to bring in new enemies, how can we tie all of this fiction together?' So we build on it deeper and say that there are darker forces in the universe at work."

I liked the martians/aliens thing but well, this is ok too, and will be a nice counterattack against the "booo dead space" muppets. As long as it's coherent with the Red Faction lore all goes perfect.

1. About multiplayer, I want one "Like" RFG. Obviously there will be differences, but I would really like the basics of RFG's MP to be there (backpacks in some form, weapons are pick up on map (no classes), basic rank system, no kill streaks, ect). Anything new added onto this would be great, I loved RFG's MP so much that I want that again. What I liked more than anything else is how simple RFG was.

2. Aliens/mutants... if they can fit them in well then I'm all for it.

3. Silly sledgehammer... FLUFFY! I'M OFF TO PHOTOSHOP!

"If you go back and you replay RF1, and the experiments that Capek was doing, and these kind of evil things that he was creating," you'll see the roots of Armageddon's alien creepers and ravagers."
