Hi all, just joined up. I had purchased RFG on D2D a long while ago and had been sitting on it, and I'm just now getting around to it with an upgraded system and I gotta say that it is one of THEE most entertaining games I have ever played. The AI is incredible in how I can sneak around them, or distract them with remote charges in order to get things done. I'm a big fan of RFG now and I will be following RFA's development now to see how that turns out.
Question, I haven't played the original Red Faction games. I have been looking into them. Are they any fun to play and/or do they have any storyline information that would be essential to the RF universe or is it safe to go on from RFG up? Just wondering because I really like the mechanics of RFG and I'm not sure if I would like going through the old FPS versions.

Honestly I only played RF 1 on PC and most of the world is destructable, Parker is the hero so in the badlands that voice is the main villian (I think its been a while) and Old Coot in Mohave is Parker.

Welcome to the community man, please don't ever leave...
And I never played RF1 or 2 either. From what I can tell, RF1 has much more influence on RFG/RFA, but not enough that you have to play it to understand everything.

RF2 has little to do with anything and is largely considered to be the worst Red Faction game.
That voice in the Badlands is heard in the ruins of Capek's nanotech lab (where you fight Capek - one of the bosses - in Red Faction 1) and it is of Capek. Capek was the Ultor scientist experimenting with nanotechnology who created the mutants and the plague.
Oh and Col. Masako is commander of the mercenaries if you wanted to know/if it matters.
I for one am hoping for a return to Mine M-4 in RF:A. Words cannot describe how happy I will be if I'm walking down a mine shaft and see a baton on the ground while "Second work shift is over. Miners return to barracks." plays over the PA.
Personally I think Volition should do a remake of the first RF game with an upgraded version of the Geo-Mod engine, not the "Link-and-Constraint-o-Mod" engine as a friend of mine calls it :P
Hi, I'm Goober. I've been a mapper for Red Faction for the past 9 years. [The Red Faction Wiki]
