If you're reading this, you've likely just bought or installed Red Faction II and are getting an error something like "You must have at least 8MB of available VRAM to play Red Faction II".
There is a simple fix to this bug. All you need to do is download and install this fix. (Assuming of course that you actually do have at least 8MB of available Video RAM)
NOTE: You MUST have the official Red Faction II v1.01 update to use this patcher.

Where did you find it? I did some digging but no luck. I just picked up RF2 in preparation for Guerilla but I'm stuck with this 8mb bug.

That is the wrong one that one is for the non steam version but it should work for the Steam version as well with no problem

No, the original one won't work with the Steam version, and the Steam patch won't work with the retail version.

Ok i just thought it would work as the Red Faction 1 RF.exe files worked for both versions if i am not mistaken.

To apply the update and fix for steam, you must apply it to the rf2.exe icon which is found in the "common" folder which is found in the steamapps folder.
In most cases the file path would be:
c:/Program files/steam/steamapps/common/red faction ii/rf2.exe
